Well, last Friday we pulled off a HUGE project at school. I haven’t blogged much about school but it is obviously a pretty large part of my life. Our school uses service learning to teach students their lessons more deeply. We take what we have learned in the classroom into the community so that we can practice our skills. On Friday, we headed to our new school building and implemented our first project there. It will be a community garden as well as a supplemental food garden for our school. The project was AmAZinG!! We started with this…

I am pretty proud of the finished project. We have a 64 foot butterfly garden, 200 square feet of raised bed gardens that will be wheelchair accessible and beautiful shrubbery. This was actually my plan and vision as well as my coordination. I’m proud of myself for pulling it together. I am also pleased with the hard work and dedication of my students, volunteers from Hills Pet Products and Colgate as well as the awesome skid loader guy for volunteering his time unsolicited! I mean REALLY! This man delivered mulch for us and saw the pile of gravel and heard the story of wheelbarrows and shovels and decided to come back and help us! Pretty amazing guy!
Overall, this was fun, hard, challenging and rewarding. I’m thinking it could be my new career! I could have a Giant Project Business. Need something massive to be organized and implemented? From landscaping to parties I could get it done! I can also organize fundraising events and any type of BIG complicated events. Yeh! I would need to have many minions to do my bidding so I could hire my previous students who are used to being minions… well. We shall see! Meanwhile, I have learned that with energy, praise, enthusiasm and good planning – working together we can get the job done!!
