Garden Girl!

Well, I am eager to be a better Garden Girl this year.  I have a pretty good start on clean up and organization thus far.  I have a history of too many gardens and too much to maintain reasonably.  I am also a bit scattered, ha ha this could be an understatement!  I don’t really plan enough and don’t really spend the money that I think it would take to make things easier.  This year I have actually made a bit of a plan and haveDSCF1820 intentions to spend some money (small reasonable amounts).    DSCF2105

I have roto-tilled and fertillized this year.  These are some baby peas – Oregon Sugar Snap Edible pods!  They are coming up and looking good.  I have them in a few places so that I will have tons!  Yum!  I have also planted spinach and lettuce.  I am not going to plant onions and potatoes this year.  They take up a lot of room and we don’t really eat many onions or potatoes!  I have refreshed my strawberry bed, it needed it.  I hope it turns out good!DSCF2044 I maintain ever bearing Strawberries but this year I added some June bearing – they get bigger which is nice.  I just don’t want gazillions of strawberries all at once.  I like a few all the time!

I love to work in the garden.  It is so fresh and close to nature.  It feels great to be outside working up a sweat, smelling the fresh air and hearing the birds sing!  I am going to seriously wrap up some flower garden projects that have been languishing for the last couple of years.  I really am organized, sort of!  I hope that tomorrow dawns with some sun.  It has been doing the April showers thing lately.  I am ready to do some transplanting in the flower beds and get them tidied up.  Good theory, huh?  I can’t wait for some days in the dirt!

Are you making garden plans?  Are you striving for planful and organized or crazy and explosive?  Here is my zinnia patch from last summer, so happy!DSCF6792
