This is a mayapple plant. They grow in the shade in the woods. I am fascinated with them. They look like umbrella plants. Under the umbrella part there blooms a small white flower that turns into a little green apple. Google tells me it is Podophyllum peltatum. I enjoyed a walk in the woods Friday afternoon. We have had rain so everything smelled so fresh and rich.
Saturday I got a lot of work done in my garden. It was a cool, sunny day and I enjoyed working the soil. I got some more spinach planted and mowed my front yard. In the evening we went to a 25th Anniversary Party. Cryin’ Out Loud, Marcus’ band played. It was a nice gathering. They ended their party with fireworks! Chilly but awesome!
Christ is Risen! He is Risen Indeed!! Happy Easter! We enjoyed a great church service, during which Marcus lent his voice to a rendition of the Hallelujah Chorus. It was pretty wonderful! Marek even commented that the sermon was awesome today! We followed the early service with Easter Breakfast – served, of course, by the youth group. Marek is now old enough to be in youth group so this was our first big thing. It was delicious and strangely smoothly running! Yay! I was also tangentially amazed by one of our church friends this morning. A KU student, he is young and shy but very nice. He taught Marek’s Sunday school a couple of years ago. Anyway, he is a track guy, or used to be, apparently you can’t do track during your Master’s degree. He participated in the KU Relays this last week and long jumped 24’ 11”! Wow! Who knew people jumped that far? Not me! He is about 6’1” so that is more than four times his height! I am amazed! He was very humble and said that his roommate jumped even farther at 26’! He also said that they really aren’t even that awesome! However, it turns out that the world record is 29 feet! Crazy! That was my random entertainment this morning!
Anyway… after church we headed to the Grandma’s house! Since we were all full of Easter breakfast, we went to the Botanical Gardens and walked through “Tulip Time”. It was very impressive and gorgeous. It was a glorious sunny day for Easter and we enjoyed our stroll. We saw two copperhead snakes, a little turtle, ducks and lots of great flowers! I took lots of photos. This is one of my favorites. Two of my favorite and most loved people! My beautiful mom and my handsome son. I took several nice and serious shots but this is my favorite because it shows their true affection and care towards each other. They are both awesome people and I love them! ![]()
I took lots of flower shots while we walked, here are a couple of my favorites… ![]()
I hope you had a good Easter today. I spent the day thinking of all the blessings in my life. God is good! So many things to appreciate and enjoy in every moment of the day. From family to flowers to ham! What are you appreciating today? I hope it is filling you with joy! Peace!
