Day two of the Jefferson County Fair!!

#195 Tuesday August 2nd, 2011  Tuesday was a long and hot day for us.  It was a record high of 112*.  We started in the concession stand at 8am, then moved on to Geology judging.  Since I am the county leader, I am also the superintendent for the project at the Fair.  This means checking all entries into the fair, keeping things organized and moving smoothly.  We had 21 entries this year which is a record!  It took about five and a half hours to complete the judging!  In 4H we have consultation judging.  This means an in person meeting and discussion with the judge.  The kids like it because they get to talk to an interested person about their projects!  The day was long!!

The barn is hot!  I brought along the 5 gallon jug full of iced water to share with people and the jug was empty when we went home!  After the judging was over we ran home to get supplies for the parade (squeezed in a quick shower too!) then back to the fair!  Our Float was cute and the kids had fun.  Since it was so unbearably hot we let all the kids carry squirt bottles on the float.  They were soaked within ten minutes and stayed that way the whole time!!  Used up another full five gallon jug of water and half of a second one during the hour and twenty minutes they were on the float!  We took fourth place which is actually not too shabby given the fact that we prepared in a total of 2 hours!!  Most importantly they all had fun!  DSC_0003DSC_0017DSC_0021 DSC_0020 DSC_0039
