Well, good morning to all of you! It is the begining of a new and potentially wonderful month! I am sure that this month will be full of many things. October is one of my favorite months. My birthday is in October so it has long been a favorite of mine. Marcus also has a birthday in October which doubled the fun for me. Also, the weather in October is some of the best, at least here in Northeast Kansas. The mornings are cool and usually wet from dew then the day warms up to almost hot. Layering weather! I am also planning a SURPRISE birthday activity for my soon to be fifty year old love!! I am optomistic that the fullness of daily living will allow good planning time for this! It should be wonderful, I pray the awesome weather holds out until the end of the month! I am also excited about October this year because I get to go to San Francisco! Yay!
Anyway!!! Today I am starting my day in Salina at the Comfort Inn. I will be attending another coaches training for the Kansas Character Education Grant. I haven't blogged much about my job this past year but I do love it and I love my students. Part of my job for the last year or so has been to participate in the Kansas Character Education grant. This is great information but it has not always been the most fun. It has involved a good amount of travelling - often to Salina since it is more accessible for the folks from Western Kansas. SO.... my thoughts today are about why a night in a hotel by yourself is a good thing! Although I did enjoy dinner with a few others who are working on the grant I enjoyed a couple of hours alone before dinner and obviously the post dinner evening. It is sort of sad to be away from my boys but it is actually an amazingly restful sort of day. I laid around on the comfy bed surfing the internet (luxery since we don't have it at home!) listened to only my choice of music and read my book til I fell asleep. Which was an amazingly early 10:30! I awoke feeling refreshed and coasted with my thoughts for an hour. Then I hopped up and turned on some music, got some coffee and started pondering this blog! I feel pretty rested and kind of like I had a mini-vacation from responsibility. I love the drive from Topeka to Salina because it takes me through the Flint Hills which are beautiful and interesting. I really always dream of getting out and searching for rocks and taking some pictures. I think I will plan a day to just drive around and do that sometime soon. I might stop and do a bit on the way home today - we'll see what time this gig ends!
I hope all of you have a way to take a mini-vacation from responsibility sometime soon. I for one am about to go get some more coffee and mini-moos and one of those awesome continental breakfast waffles! Have a beautiful day full of things for which you can be grateful!!
