Fall, Friends and Beauty!

Joy! This morning I couldn’t resist hopping out of the jeep to take pictures of the fog forming over a small pond.  DSCF0028The temperature was low, maybe in the forties.  There was some frost on the grass and lots of moisture in the air.  Fall in Northeast Kansas is awesome.  The moisture was floating up from the pond…  and then on the other side of the pond it was floating up and away… it was amazingly glorious!  The thin stream of white just tapered away like a trail of smoke.DSCF0033
This afternoon and evening, I was able to join two of my wonderful friends for a walk through the Leopold Conservation Education Area.  They are both wonderful and fabulous for different reasons.  Before they arrived I enjoyed a short hike around without them and took some pictures.  I wish I had been more quiet because I almost got a picture of a Great Blue Heron.  I love those birds!  They are tough to photograph – possibly because I usually have dogs or at least one child with me!  Today, I enjoyed some nature and some nature photography with two good friends! Jennifer brought the beautiful children and Julie brought the dogs!DSCF0088
We enjoyed a leisurely walk through the wetlands and down to Perry Lake.  It is nice to have friends who I am so comfortable with, we were relaxed and content to chat and stroll.

I love Milkweed, it is a signature flower for the prairie.  There are many different types.  These seeds will blow away soooon.  I thought about saving some to plant in my garden but I didn’t!
DSCF0083The Pelican's are migrating now, I didn’t get any close up pictures.  They are mighty birds.  Amazingly fast.  We watched one swoop down to the water and fly right above the water.  At any second he could have dipped down into the Lake.  He was rushing to catch up with his flock.  They were fast!  Pretty amazing birds.

Calli is learning so fast!  She is a sweet girl who likes to cuddle up with Julie or I when we are together.  She is such a tough little outdoors woman, knocking down spider webs and taking a few licks from the dogs.  She is quite a trooper and even when tired kept up a stream of chatter all evening.  She loves her baby brother and was a great helper.

The wetlands are beautiful now after having been flooded throughout the summer.  Everything is verdant and lush.  Beautiful.  I’m loving the opportunities to take pictures and play with my camera while spending time with friends! I hope that you have time to do some of the things that fill your life with richness!!
