Adventure continued...

Sooooo! I've been busy exploring the city! Day three was pretty excellent! We had the morning off from the conference :-0! I was able to hang out with two if my peers from Kansas all day.

We took the cable car to China Town for a look around. It was cool to take the cable car just to say we did!

China Town was just waking up it seemed, although it was 9:30am. We wandered through the markets and took in the sights, sounds and smells. I didn't recognize many things and the signs were no help!

After that, we walked to Pier 33 for the boat to Alcatraz National Park. Super cool! Nice to get on the ocean. So much to see here. Everything is beautiful!

Alcatraz was interesting. They had an excellent audio tour that included history, voices of people from the past and interesting facts. It was well worth the trip. We hiked up the Agave Trail to get to the top.
The tour piqued an interest in this history, I need to watch some of the old Alcatraz movies again. The Birdman of Alcatraz and The Rock spring to mind.

Incarceration as punishment without hope for rehabilitation. The prison closed in 1963. Not so long ago, times have changed for the better I think!

After the tour, we hot footed it back to the conference center for the two afternoon sessions. There has been much walking thus far. Glad I brought my wogging shoes!

Are you inspired to visit San Francisco? I hope so! It's pretty awesome!

I spent Thursday evening with my friends Bob and Jennifer. They are old friends from Kansas - parents of my dear friend Traci. Great visit with them. They are inspiring - retired and moved to San Francisco so they could have an adventure everyday. We had a great dinner and watched the end of the big game with a small group of strangers turned comrades at a mediterranean restaurant near their apartment. Fun!

What's in store for tomorrow? Major conference day! Yay!
