Yep, I have been flying busy for the last three weeks. I enjoyed our vacation which was followed directly by the Jefferson County 4H fair during the 100 degree plus week ending in a short but sweet weekend. Poof, back to work! Then our Fight Against Diabetes Event! Argh! I love my job but I’m really not sure if it’s good for me to have the summer off! Too much time to do my own thing on my own schedule followed by a crashing back to work crunch. Sheesh!
Today was the first day of school for my students. Things went well. As is usual for us, many things have changed about our daily routine and the majority of our students are new. I am actually very excited about the classes that I will be teaching this semester. I love the part of my job that allows me to pursue things that randomly interest me! I will be teaching a “Home Economics” class! This is laughable in so many ways and should lead to much adventure! It involves cooking, advance planning, money management, and healthy food! I’m psyched! I think that my class will start a blog of our own for this challenge – adding more challenge to the crappy kitchen, no budget, students who don’t really know anything about cooking class. Oh, did I mention that the product we will be producing will be daily “supplemental” lunch for my school? FUN! I’ll keep you posted if the blog dream comes about!
I am also teaching a service learning class which will be wonderful and exciting. I have a lovely group of students who will be helping me create, plan and implement service learning projects this semester. Should be good. Our Annual Water Festival is coming up September 30th. Woo! Perhaps another blog requirement. I’m loving the blog and it would be an interesting way to work writing into these classes… hmmm…
My other class is PE which I desperately need! I’ve been running around but getting no exercise!!! Hope your life is full of energizing and invigorating challenges that will, optimistically, impact the lives of youth! Dang! That sounds so BIG! I am a lucky woman!
On the down side, I have fallen into sloth due to a wide array of quality excuses! Very little active intentional exercise has happened this summer. What a bummer, disappointment! I was getting buff last summer. This summer I got jiggly! I am pretty happy that I didn’t actually gain any weight! Yay! Maintenance is not overrated! I am making some new goals and kicking my butt into a moving gear ASAP!
Have a fantabulous day full of fun and desirable challenges that are the perfect fit for you!!
