An Excellent Adventure!

So!  Today we went on an all day long kayaking adventure.  It was a totally nice and relaxing day.  I went with my two Julies.  They are each great friends and kayak owners.  We put in at Lake Perry near my house, and we explored the Slough Creek arm of the Lake.  We paddled and swam and talked and saw all the sights.

I got my awesome new kayaking hat at the JDLA garage sale and, although it blew off at least three times it was handy.  I lost my sunglasses and my water shoes!  It was funny!  We paddled and floated all day long.  It was supposed to rain but it magically held off and turned into a sunny and beautiful day.  We found a family of eagles and got amazingly close to them.  This is my best picture, I think.  It was pretty awesome to see the eagles so close, they were eating a large fish.  Eagles only get their bald or white heads when they are three so we saw at least two three year olds (or older) and a couple of young ones.  They are amazing to me and beautiful.  Maybe because when I was a kid they were so few.  I also love Great Blue Heron’s, although they seem more shy.

We had some lunch and some vodka soaked gummy bears – they were NOT good.  Boo!  It seemed like maybe they would taste like gummy bears but nope, vodka.  It was worth a try though.  We really enjoyed just floating – both in our kayaks and on our floatie cushions.  It got a bit windy by the end of the day which made for some hard paddling on the return trip.  We made it though!  The lake felt great but MAN is it muddy!  We were dirty when we got out.  We were also all a bit sunburned but hopefully not too badly!

That’s my story for today!!  Also – one or more of these is surely #109!  Hope your day was full of something fabulous!  My suggestion, get a kayak and get out there!!
