Planting seeds

Well, it's been another busy week but now it's spring break! Time to blog all the thoughts and ideas I've been pondering! First, an easy one!

I started some seeds on Monday. Spinach and mesclun green mix! Yum!

In years past, I have experimented with starting a lot of seeds for my garden. I have had some sucess but I have learned that seed starting is mostly a pain! It takes up space, plants get leggy and need transplanting and life is busy. Last year I didn't start any seeds. I'm pretty sure I saved money by purchasing plants. My plant mortality rate was better also!

This year I decided that growing some greens to eat straight from the container would be fun and easy. No need to transplant - just eat them! It is now Friday, look how they've grown!

I have sprouts! I covered the soil loosely with plastic wrap to keep the seeds warm and moist then I added sunshine through the back door and wahlah! I hope they survive our absence this week. They survived Pogo's nose today!
