Fitness for life

I've had a request to be motivational and inspirational on the topic of fitness! I can only start by saying that I might appear to be a bit into fitness because I really like to wear sweats, yoga pants, shorts, T-shirts and hoodies because they are all like jammies! I'm not really a fitness nut but try to be a bit of a health nut. I generally feel pretty okay with my fitness level. I would also like to say that this has not always been the case so... Here are a few things that motivate me!

First, a caveat, motivators change all the time and the order and value switches constantly. You have to use what works for that day.

My son is my motivation, I want to do things with him and show him places. Explore, climb a mountain. We have been hiking together for the past year, I can't wait for more. I have dreams of the Grand Canyon and every other awesome National Park. Also though, it is the smaller normal things like hiking the complete 30 mile long Perry Lake Trail in one weekend - carrying our gear and sleeping on the trail. This was his idea! Yay! Can't wait!

Another motivator for me is wanting to be independent when I'm old. I want to be able to move and feel good when I'm 80. I have had the unfortunate opportunity to watch my mother in law degenerate in health over the last 10 years. She is miserable. She has arthritis, spinal stenosis, neuropathy and a bunch of other issues. I believe that exercise and strength training over her life time would have really helped her now. I can't bear to see the smart, capable and independent person whom I love in this totally dependent situation. She is not happy. I will exercise to decrease my chances of this happening to me.

My selfishness is a great motivator for me. I want to look good and feel good. I am stronger now than I was when I was younger. I want to be hot! Haha. I know it sounds kind of shallow but really it's true. I'm not excited about looking like a doughy, jiggly stereotypical 40 something lady. I'm hot and I'm working to stay that way! When I signal a turn on my Harley while wearing my cutectank top I want passers by to say, "Damn, she's buff!". I don't want, "Damn, her flubby scares me!!" (By the way, I believe that at least 50% of hot is in your own head!). Delusional self confidence is a great thing to posess and plays into vanity which is an awesome motivator!

So those are my tips for motivation... Dream about the future and be as vain as it takes to get rid of flubby!!
