Wow, I had a good weekend! I enjoyed time with family and friends and a variety of activities. Oh, one bummer, I almost forgot. Friday I took Marek to the Orthodontist and, of course, he needs braces. Ugh. That figures. However, after that we went to Topeka and hung out with Mom. We went to a little shop and made some fused glass artwork.
It was pretty cool. I can’t wait to see how our creations turn out. Friday night Marek went to youth group and Marcus and I continued to work on the shed remodel project.
Yay, painting in 100* weather! We got everything but the trim painted. Saturday I tried out some Zumba then changed my bike tire, this makes me feel so competent! Then Julie and I went on a short kayaking adventure. I came home and chillaxed for awhile then took an evening bike ride with my friend Shelley! It was an excellent day. The bike ride was pretty excellent because we chose to start and end at the Grainery which means we had a cold beer after our ride! It was a nice and relaxing Saturday!
Today, Marek and I went to church then came home to relax. I got some gardening done, my tomatoes are looking good. It has been so endlessly hot and sunny that my blackberries are burning on the bush. The ones deep in the bush are still good and juicy but the ones exposed to the sun are turning crunchy. I put my picnic umbrella out in the garden to shade them. Marek tried out for a new Oskaloosa American Legion baseball team. Marek did great at the tryout. However, it is a catch 22. We want him to do great but seriously, they will play 80-100 baseball games. Holy Cow! It is a team for boys who are finished with 8th grade through just graduated. There were several older boys there and they are obviously better than Marek. There are try outs next Sunday as well. We will see how that turns out. It was interesting to watch the try outs.
We came home and ripped the shingles off the shed in preparation for a new roof. We built the shed 20 years ago and it was in definite need of a remodel. Ripping shingles off the shed in 100* weather was even more awesome than the painting. However, it was nice to work all together as a family. We came in at dark. Whew! You see why we are now relaxing!
