Well, heck fire! Parents, baseball and another weekend past

It has been a very FULL week and weekend!  First news is that Mom went home on Friday after learning that the tumor was “dead” because her body cut off the blood supply to it.  Yay!  She has super powers! This means that it was as though it was already treated soooo there will be no need for chemo or any additional treatment!  The hard part is that there will be some pretty tough days ahead recovering from the major surgery and the badass incision.  She is weak and at home.  I am sure she can do it but it will be hardcore.  Sending her love and strength!

We went to visit my Dad in Springfield for a fast weekend.  Had a good time visiting and catching up as well as partaking in various activities.  We went to a Springfield Cardinals game, they are the double a farm team for the St. Louis Cardinals.  It was a good game, 14 innings!  Whoa.  Dad and I were about ready to call it good but we stayed for an amazing ending.

Strangely the weather was coolish, compared to the usual 100* plus we have been having.  There was even a breeze!  Saturday we hit the lake and it was overcast and cool!  Weird.

I managed to get in the water and float without getting the stitches wet or submerged.  Yay!  No flesh eating bacteria for me!  I got a great arm workout stroking my floatie to and from shore!  We had a good time hanging out and talking with Dad and Mertie.  I am a bit worried about my Dad’s mobility.  Weird, really since he walks at least three times a week for 30 minutes but he struggles to get up with out a hard push up and grunt.  He needs a hip replacement sometime soon so there is definite pain.  Uhn.  I love him and hope it gets better.  I really wish he would do some strength training with a personal trainer.  Sending love and strength to him as well!

We took off from Springfield and headed to another baseball game.  Imagine that!  We watched the White Sox and Royals game.  The Sox won!  they are in first place.  It was hot but fun.  Honestly, I would have to say that while I love baseball I was a trooper this weekend!  Sheesh!  Good thing I love these guys!  They are number 135!

In other news, I am signed up to do the Wakarusa Off Road with Shelley’s friend Sandra.  This is good as it will help me focus and actually do the deal!  I am about to make a training schedule and follow it!  I was hoping to do it alone but the reality is that I would have slacked off and somehow failed to sign up.  Now, I’m in.  Shelley is a genius as it was her idea for Sandra and I to pair up.  She is not going to have the time to train to do the off road so she is planning to volunteer for the race.  She will get a discount on our next Bonkhard event.  I need to incorporate my knee therapy into my daily plan as it has been a bit achy. Boo!   I am getting my stitches out tomorrow!    I’m also going to pick up the pop up camper from the repair place.  Another day of driving around, but it will all be for good.  We will take the pop up to Milford next weekend for our Adventure Race.

Meanwhile, Marek has already had one practice with the legion team.  There are some large older boys on the team!  Wow, dropping Marek off for practice with giants was a weird sensation.  His ball tournament for the current year starts Tuesday night in Perry.  Whew, I guess the weekend was just a preparation for a new era of baseball life I will be leading.  Oh, my.  Soon we are taking a few days off from this normal life!  Thankful for that!

Well, it’s just another day, week and weekend in my normal life.  Hope your normal life is keeping you on your toes and full of interesting things! Don’t forget to breathe deeply and LAUGH!!
