I'm amazed

Wow! Busy, but exciting times. I have momentarily mastered my distress at all things swamping me. Whew! (more on that later!). I have quite literally hundreds of ideas rattling around this empty brain tonight. This one wins because it is the actual birthday of my son Marek. He has turned 11! Weird! I have been so blessed to parent Marek in partnership with my wonderful husband who is an excellent father. Patient, kind and gentle.

I was purusing a book, Guide My Feet, by Marion Wright Edelmam last night. It had been a long time since I had read this book She shares ideas, motivators and prayers for parents within this book -which is full of pretty wonderful things. I am, with this birthday, forced to acknowledge what the age of my son is telling me. The opportunity to raise this child into a person is more than half way gone. I pray that we have done well thus far and that we will do even better for the next 11 years!

Here is one of the prayers from Guide My Feet that I like:

Dear God, I thank you for the gift of this child to raise, this life to share, this mind to help mold, this body to nurture, and this spirit to enrich.

Let me never betray this child's trust, dampen his hope, or discourage his dreams.

Help me dear God to help this precious child become all that You mean him to be.

Let Your grace and love fall on him like gentle breezes and give him inner strength, peace and patience for the journey ahead. In Jesus name, Amen.

I would add that I ask forgivness for all the times that I have failed at these things! Faith is good, we will continue to do all these things while loving and enjoying our son! Happy Birthday, Marek!
