What a weekend!

Well, a full life is a good life I say! It was a full but invigorating weekend. Friday evening was spent relaxing and preparing for Saturday. Saturday, I hosted a 4H project meeting at my house. It was the Leadership project and it was fun. Apparently, there has never been a leadership project meeting, at least not in memory of the oldest member anyway! I think it is important to have project meetings to talk, build community and learn concepts. Especially since many of our youth are young - two teens are involved. They were both helpful. We had fun, it seemed like we were all having fun anyway! I combined some paperwork with a cool challenge/teamwork activity. They seemed to like it, they had to work in pairs to build a boat in seven minutes with ten straws and 30 inches of masking tape. The boats had to float and hold pennies! We did it twice and talked about the skills we used to do it. They enjoyed it - the teenagers even took pictures for facebook which indicates they were happy! Lol!

After that, we had lunch and an officers meeting (just the president, vp, secretary and treasurer). We went over our agenda for the next meeting and ate pizza for a bit. They are such good kids. They are all pretty busy with talking and laughing their way through life. I really appreciated the older kids, Shelby talked about the value of self-determination. Wow! Matthew talked about empathy. Good role models for the 5th, 6th and 7th graders!

After lunch Marek's friend Alicen hung out. They played for awhile but chose to take a hike with me later. It was pretty cold and windy but sunny! I was pretty into speed for the sake of exercise but the kids like to meander and chat.

We made it down to Slough Creek. It's a pretty nice creek with sand bars and tall trees. Great summer wading spot. The dogs enjoyed our hike as well.

Good hike! After that, I took Ali home and dropped Marek at another friends for a birthday. Whew! I headed to my friend Julie's 'Spa Party'. It was lovely! Good company, hot foot baths and wine! Yay! I had a nice time chatting and laughing my way through life!

Today we enjoyed church together. I love that our family likes to go to church. Marek likes to dress up and asks lots of great questions - today his questions were about advent. Marcus sang with the choir which is always nice. After, we went shopping for the gifts we are giving to our adopt-a-family. Finally made it home, ate lunch and spent three hours chopping wood! What a full day! It is good to work together as a family. Even though there isn't much room for talking with the chain saws running or the gas log splitter splitting, it is a great feeling of companionship and a job well done. Plus, we have a LOT of great firewood! I'm pretty happy with the exercise component of the job as well!

I think it was a weekend well done for all of us here at the Blunderosa. I hope it was a weekend well done for all of you as well! Keep living a full life - it's such a good life! Enjoy!
