Moving towards Christmas!

Today I had the opportunity to take some students to finish up a service project. We have been cleaning gently used toys for the Santa's Toy Express. The boys liked the project and the ladies liked the help! What a good thing - helping others! Here are all the donated toys ready for the "shopping" tomorrow.

My 4H club helped clean toys as well. Tomorrow people can "shop" for toys with canned goods - one can for gifts for all your children! Five cans for one larger gift. Pretty sweet deal. The food all gets donated to families for the Holiday Helpers program. Love it!!!

This super awesome tapestry made me happy this evening. It was hanging in the church where we went to see my Mom's choir concert. Really nice fiber art with an excellent message for church and life!

I also enjoyed the Shawnee Choral Society concert this evening. I like Christmas but it always sneaks up on me and makes me feel a bit stressed and overwhelmed. Shopping, money, activities cold weather - Bleh!!

However, I love Advent, the birth of Christ the giving and sharing and spending time with my family. Being in a decorated church helps me focus on the season. It was nice to hear some Christmas music and spend the evening with the fam! Excellent music, new found Christmas spirit! I love that my mom sings with this community choir. She has stayed involved for several years. It is a good seasonal tradition to go see her sing.

I am going to spend some time tomorrow getting organized for the season tomorrow! I think I will feel pretty good after the 4H meeting Wednesday. Making lists and staying focused on the true meaning of Christmas!

Maybe decorations on Friday afternoon... Tree? Hmmmm... I actually want a cedar tree this year. I visited the Lane Museum with my students today (if you've never stopped in, it's worth a look) they have all their historical and traditional Christmas decorations out. Their 14 foot cedar tree is beautiful and smells great! Do you have Christmas up? I think I'm going for simple and easy. I kind of wish I had an advent wreath - maybe we will make one this weekend.

Now I'm moving towards Christmas - finally!!!
