Three days… then it’s time for turkey!

So, last Sunday I left you with the news that my knee was hurting like crazy and that I was hoping for a magical cure.  SO… I got lucky and got an appointment with my doctor Monday afternoon.  Turns out that I injured my ilial tibia band or IT Band.  The answer was (not shocking) R.I.C.E. rest, ice, compression and elevation.  He didn’t say no race but that I would be able to choose based on how I feel.  Ugh.  Today, a week later, I can in fact walk.  However, there is no running.  It still hurts but isn’t death defying now, an improvement.  However, we have cancelled our participation in the Castlewood 8 Hour.  Boo!  But, it isn’t worth being lame.  I am not permanently damaged.  I don’t need surgery or any kind of massive physical therapy.  I am in need of listening to my body and rice – the rest, ice, compression, elevation.  We will race again someday.  Maybe we will focus on biking?!  Meanwhile, I will listen to my body and get better!  So… here are the snaps for my 365… at least I can still take some shots!

Yep, this is the injured leg.  Doesn’t look so bad.  The doctor gave me some awesome gel, Voltaren gel – it is a topical nsaid and I am rubbing it in 4 times a day.  This was the first rubbing.  I don’t make a good injured person.  It hurts and I am prone to fast walking which leads to a painful reminder….
