#305 Sunday November 20th, 2011 This evening I took Marek back into Lawrence for his weekly confirmation class. I took the time to drive through KU campus. It was nice. I remember walking campus at all hours of the day and night, knowing all the buildings and the short cuts. Campus is beautiful, architecturally it is interesting and it is beautiful at night. Recently when we were in Manhattan on K-State campus, Laura, one of Marek’s friends said, “Heeeyy, they have a campanile, too!” I thought it was funny but also wonderful that a 13 year old girl would know what a campanile was. Also, that she would find it interesting or touching that it existed. I noticed that there was a Danforth Chapel at K-state just like at KU. I learned that a family named Danforth donated money to 24 different institutions to build chapels. Actually, Mr. Danforth also founded Ralston as in Ralston – Purina. Who knew? Kinda cool. He promoted a balance in life of four areas: Physical, Mental, Social and Religious. This was all laid out in a book in 1894. Crazy, huh?!
#304 Saturday November 19th, 2011 This is an historic round barn near Oskaloosa, Kansas. Apparently, there was quite a phase of round barn building. It is kinda cool.
#303 Friday November 18th, 2011 We hosted the Bead for Life party on Thursday evening and Friday all day. I laid it out on Wednesday evening so that the Board members could see our project. By the end of the day Friday we had sold $2600 of products! Pretty amazing! Of every $10 sold, $7.52 goes directly to Uganda to fight extreme poverty there. $2.01 goes to educate people in the developed world. Only .47 cents goes to administration. This is an amazing return on the amazing mission of raising Ugandan women from poverty and educating others! Pretty cool day!![]()
#302 Thursday November 17th, 2011 These are a few adventure racing supplies I have picked up in preparation for the Castlewood 8 Hour Adventure Race. Yep, water purification tablets and an emergency blanket. Yay! Really looking forward to this adventure!

On another note, bumming out about my knee pain right now. I spent Thursday freaking out because my knee and in fact my whole leg is hurting SO badly. I hurt it many weeks ago when I fell. At least that is my theory, when I fell I twisted my leg from ankle to hip. I visited the chiropractor and it felt quite a bit better. It wasn’t 100% but with a little babying it seemed pretty good. I was feeling like I had been slacking off before the race so I bumped up the effort a couple of weeks ago. It was hurting for a couple of weeks but on Wednesday I took a wog with Marek. It finished me off. Thursday I was gimping and hardly functioning at school. I applied ice and ibuprophen and wine and sat on my butt. Friday it hurt but not as badly. I hauled it all over school on a busy day. By Friday night I was wiped. However, with continued ice, ibuprophen and wine therapy it was feeling pretty good by bedtime. This morning, Sunday, I felt like maybe I would be ready to wog a bit by Wednesday or Thursday. Sadly, after a pretty good day it is jacked up again. I felt ok until I drove back into Lawrence with Marek and on the way out of Kohl’s I couldn’t walk without heavily leaning on Marek. Ugh. It hurts pretty bad. Tried to make a doctor’s appointment on Thursday but couldn’t get anything scheduled before Thanksgiving. I think now that I am going to walk into Prompt Care or whatever tomorrow and hope for the best. I REALLY want to do this Adventure Race. Ugh. Feeling like it won’t happen right now. We will see.
