Well, it was the third annual family event… the Springfield Missouri Turkey Trot. Yay! I did it! I couldn’t run, wog or even power walk but I walked the whole way! I walked with Marcus and my mom. It was awesome – at least more awesome than sitting it out! Marek ran with my brother and Molly (step cousin?). They did great, finishing in less than 30 minutes. Molly is an 11 year old runner and was setting the pace! Girls rock! Oh, there were approximately 8000 people in the Turkey Trot this year, a new record! Also, as usual, I chose not to take my camera or my phone. Doh. No pics. Oh, well. Maybe next year. After the Turkey Trot we enjoyed a mild day hanging out at my Dad’s house.
#309 Thursday November 24th, 2011 Marek was such a good cousin. Helping out the little ones. Ellie Brooke was very entertained. I love this shot.
Here, Easton is amazed and eager to pop some bubbles!
#310 Friday November 25th, 2011 Friday brought a morning of bowling followed by an afternoon of golfing. Marek was pretty excited to drive the cart. Somehow Marcus fell into a pond… the story is pretty hilarious in person. I am sorry I wasn’t able to actually observe it!
#311 Saturday November 26th, 2011 There was an inordinate amount of costume wearing and wrestling all weekend long. The kids had so much fun and so did the adults. With my brother and Amy living in Atlanta, it is rare for the whole batch of us to gather. It was relaxing and enjoyable – more than I anticipated it to be actually.
I found no time to blog through the weekend and thus didn’t complete the obligatory list of things for which to be thankful. However, to cut to the chase I am thankful for many things and work hard to remember them daily – not just on thanksgiving! I am thankful for my family, my physical health (hey, at least I don’t need surgery!), and all of the blessings bestowed on me by God. Things are pretty good and for that I’m sincerely thankful! Hope you are feeling good and thankful for your family also! Life goes by so fast sometimes. I am renewing my resolve to focus on being thankful for what I have each day. It makes a difference in my daily attitude! Thankfulness is for everyday!
