Vacation is GREAT!

Well, yesterday was Tuesday. It was a great day because we went to the Brookfield Zoo for a visit. Although it was hot, it was a great visit. It has actually been a lovely week of vacation and family visiting. A few highlights will have to make up my list of great things because today we drive home which will be nine hours of not great.

1. We enjoyed the first few days with intensive family time. A trip to Six Flags Great America with the cousins started us off. Fun times! Much like our familiar Worlds of Fun with a few extra things and the company of cousins to make it great!

2. We had two family cookouts with lots of chatting and children playing. It is amazing to see the older cousins all grown up and caring for their families. Cute babies!

Monday we hit the vacation part of the trip and began to do some Chicago things.

3. Our first stop was at Millennium Park and The Art Institute in Chicago. This is me at the giant bean aka Cloud Gate sculpture in the park. It's a ginormous reflective jelly bean shape. Cool!

4. Marcus and I love to visit The Art Institute and this time Marek really enjoyed it as well. This is a Georgia O'Keefe painting entitled "Red Flowers and Red Hills".

4. We went to a White Sox game Monday night. While not totally my thing, it is definitely my guys thing and their happiness makes me happy! Plus, I do like a good baseball game and tailgating!

5. We went to the Brookfield Zoo Tuesday. Never been there so it was new. Pretty cool, it is a nationally renowned zoo and they have dolphins! They also had two White Sox players signing autographs - very exciting! They each signed my visor! Woohoo!

6. Intermingled with all this excitement has been some relaxation! Each morning I have gotten up a little early to walk Pogo and then drink coffee while reading my book and lounging in the screened patio!

7. Last night we ate Chicago style stuffed pizza from Nancy's! It's amazing! Nothing like this exists in Kansas!

8. Today, we are packing up and loafing a bit before the drive home. Too bad we can't teleport! The drive is a real buzz kill!

9. Tomorrow we will be HOME! Home is the best place and I am ready to be there! See you in Kansas!
