Giving credit where credit is due!

The other day in Sunday school, we studied the last two verses of Philippians and the last few verses of Romans. Not actually very exciting verses just Paul wrapping up his letters. But, Pastor had us talk about WHY Paul spent so much time opening and closing his letters. Always "greetings to all the saints" and naming specific people - the last few verses of Romans 16 greet special friends and say NICE things about them. He is acknowledging their contributions, pointing out their best qualities - naming them for being hard workers. How do we feel when people show appreciation to us? Especially since usually we are doing because it's what we do - not doing for credit. How often do we take that minute to say outloud how thankful we are for something wonderful, small or large, that a loved one has done.

More importantly, how often do we express these feelings to the people who are closest to us? Often we are sincerely and effusively thankful to virtual strangers but take for granted those closest to us. The point of this bible study was to discuss how we relate to others and perhaps - how we should relate to others. We should give credit where credit is due! Don't take the things people do for granted say thanks! Express out loud what you think or feel about the person or what they did and what it meant to you. We all appreciate receiving a gold star for our hard work or thoughtful actions. Most likely others would feel warm and fuzzy and acknowledged when we give them thanks and praise for their behaviors! Let's give it a try shall we?!
