Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
- 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Well, it is Valentines week. Yesterday I posted this verse from the Bible on Love. I was thinking of that as the quote of the week. I was also thinking that Valentines Day is an over emphasis on romantic love. There are so many other types of love that are equally important! There are so many different people and relationships that involve love. Each of those love relationships should follow the directives within this verse. The verse describes how we should love and we all know that the Bible says we should “love our neighbors as ourselves”. Jesus taught that the most important thing is love. The important thing about that is that we should remember how to love – with patience, kindness, humility, honor, giving, calmness, trust, hope and perseverance. These words from the Bible aren’t just a nice description but in fact are a specific instruction to us about HOW to act and WHAT to do. We should do these things to EVERYONE! Loving others is hard but important. Obviously we love our partners, family, friends in different ways but we also love all people and we should daily treat those we meet in these ways.
Good goal, huh? I’m just sayin’!.
