The winter doldrums are about to break!

Man, things are slow yet strangely fast lately.  A million things are going on yet none of them are amazing.  I am apparently ready for spring!  I am focusing on the good tonight, it is what gets me through the days.

A few fabulous things…

Marek’s Jazz Band performed at The Annual KU Jazz Festival last Friday.  They did a great job, it was awesome.  At some point I will post an MP3 of the performance.  It was a fun day for him and Marcus and I enjoyed the chance to have lunch and hang out with mom.

This weekend is the Thumper Adventure Race!  Holy COW!!  I am not ready to run or ride my bike but I’m going to do it!  It will be FUN!  It will also jumpstart my badly needed motivation for more movement.  I am having some definite difficulties with my aches and pains so after this weekend I am going to pursue some new regime.  I am looking forward to a fun weekend.  We are going to stay in a cabin at the lake and chillax the evening before the race.

As a negative aside, a major bummer today, the dates for the awesome sounding Bonk Hard Race Hardwater Half-Hundred a 50K (31 miles) of beautiful Ozark river paddling were announced today.  BOOO!!!  The only weekend of the entire summer that I am booked!  I know I’ll be enjoying the youth in Texas that weekend but man, the paddling sounded like such a great time.

The other great thing is that the weather is improving, at least a little!  The snow is melting and the temperature is supposed to warm up by the weekend.  This will make the whole 15 miles (if we don’t get lost) much more palatable!  We will be muddy like crazy but not slogging through slush!

I am excited that Marcus will be painting the guest room with primer tomorrow!  Whoop!  Progress!

Shelley and I have ordered our special tomato seeds and the JDLA peeps will be sprouting mine in the greenhouse!  Sweet success will be assured!

I am also excited that I will have the afternoon free Thursday to help with Marek’s Knowledge Bowl Meet.  It is always entertaining to watch some knowledge bowl and I am happy to help.  I don’t know what job I will have but I know it will be fun to help regardless.

I am excited about our upcoming spring break trip.  I think that we really need a break from the usual and some quality time together.  It will also be a good adventure. I need to get an oil change before we gooooo!  Julie will be babysitting the dogs – my babies.  This is a major awesomeness.  I have a few more details to pull together and we will be ready to hit the road.

Meanwhile, I am NOT doing well with going to bed early and ironically after my post from last week – I started my period!  UGH!  I have been eating a crapton of crap.  Good thing that the Thumper is coming up to kick me in the buttocks!!

Hope you are having some butt kicking times – motivate and find the good in each day!
