Saturday in San Francisco!

So I was a bit tired due to the festive birthday events but I woke on time and made it to the conference for the last day. Glad I did, it was excellent. I heard a great speaker who was fabulously motivating. Dr. Michelle Borba. She had lots to say. I would say that while the basis of character education seems like common sense in theory, there is apparent depth to our societal problem in raising children with character ie: compassion, empathy, respect etcetera. It is actually harder to do than to say. More on character later!

My adventure began after the conference with another visit to The Ferry Building which was having a Harvest Festival. Gorgeous farmers market offerings and things to look at while munching my scone. THEN, an old friend from high school debate, Mark and his wife Linda, came and picked me up and took me to visit The Muir Woods! You know I love being outside! Well, wow! It was a little rainy early in the day so everything was washed clean.

What a beautiful place to be!

We got caught up and enjoyed a short hike through the woods. It was an absolutely amazing and wonderful place. I think if I lived near this I would visit it often. Very quiet but pretty populated with visitors. Worth a visit if you are ever near San Francisco as it was right across the Golden Gate bridge, maybe twenty minutes from downtown.

We also visited Golden Gate Park which had some amazing vistas. Mark talked about riding his bike from his house to here and back, of course! Far, hilly but beautiful! I was impressed!

We drove down and back into the city to visit the ocean. I hadn't touched it yet this trip so it was a must!

Of course, gorgeous! How excellent to reconnect with old friends. We had fun and enjoyed all the talking and re-learning each other.

We ended the day with seafood and promises to stay in touch.

The rest is not very adventurous, I packed up and got to bed for my flight out Sunday morning! Although, I had a delay, everything went smoothly and I was home on time! Yay! A great time but I was ready to be home. I missed my people! Hope you get the chance to have an adventure - near or far it is well worth it!
