Summer…

is flying past me so fast!  My head is full of ponders but there is little time to sit and write.  Each day unfolds with so many options for activity.  I spent this morning reading then worked in the garden for several hours.  I think I have finally got the bindweed under control in the garden.  Sadly, it took me breaking out the damn roundup to do it.  I am generally anti round up and anti sevin dust, I try to be organic because it seems like the best plan.  My friends seem to be completely split between being perplexed as to why I don’t use round up and those who can’t figure out why I do.  Funny.  I just do what seems right to me.  The round up may have actually done the trick with the bindweed, it was certainly my last ditch effort.  I am  working to consolidate my gardens and it is going well.  I am slowing down a little now because it has transitioned back to hot and dry weather.  I think my plan is working and I am optimistic that it will come together.

I am working to get my second raised bed up and running and to install my water garden.  I could use some more money!  Meanwhile, I am just keeping things weeded and doing as much as possible for free!  DSC_0499
I am going to what feels like endless baseball games.  This is somewhat what we expected but not quite.  Marek is not playing much, I understand that it is because he is the youngest on the team and he doesn’t pitch (which is a ticket to play) but … he can’t really improve without play.  He is enjoying the guys on the team but he usually only gets to play an inning or two.  We are debating whether to continue with this team (we will lose three to ineligibility this next year – they will be 20) but Marek really can’t compete against the guys who are 17-19 for a playing spot.  We shall see.  Meanwhile, baseball it is.
I am getting up tomorrow at 5:45 to take Marek to conditioning (starts at 6:30am) I will drop him and hit the trails.  Weights ends at 8 and then he will run with a friend to get some cross country conditioning in, and I will lift weights while they run.  This sounds like a big pain in the butt but, if I’m up, I might as well get it going on!!  After that, we will chillax at home then it’s off to baseball.  Yay.
