July is over?

Wow, how the summer has flown past!  First, I felt all wacky from continuous obligations and weird schedule requirements, happily that has passed!  Now I feel like we finally have the rhythm of summer and it is almost past.  A few cool things are happening around here to wrap summer up for good.

First, my little brother and his family have arrived from Atlanta.  It will be nice to have them close.  It has been a bit chaotic in the process (driving across the country with three kids, two dogs, hauling a trailer with a giant jeep on it) but it seems that settling will begin by this weekend.  Their moving truck is scheduled to arrive Friday.  They will be living in the Kansas City area which is probably the perfect distance.  I can’t wait to have some good times with them!

Second, the 4H Fair is almost here!  We are almost ready for it too, which is good!  Marek is entering a 60 specimen Geology exhibit, a 15 specimen Mineralogy exhibit (a cool new class), four photos in Photography and a display for Performing Arts.  He is also a royalty candidate – essentially against his will – and will be on the royalty float with his other friends from our club.  It should be a good fair, the weather at least has been amazing lately so that alone will be refreshing!

Third, we are planning a short get-away trip to Colorado Springs after the  fair.  Yay, hopefully a relaxing family retreat before I return to work!

Lastly, I am planning to have a wide variety of kayaking adventures as well as some wogging and biking before winter hits.  The weather is perfect for outdoor adventure!!  Go outside!!

(All of these photos are Marek’s fair entry photos.  Three are obviously in the digitally manipulated class!)
